Tivoli

In the middle of downtown Copenhagen you will find Tivoli, which probably can be

said to be the uncrowned queen among sights in Copenhagen.

The traditional fairytale featuring a variety of entertainment both for daredevils and

the less courageous. The romantic evening ambiance is certainly also worth

experiencing with fairy lights, live music and spectacular fireworks.

The Little Mermaid

The story of the little mermaid unveiled for the first time in 1837 when the Danish

writer Hans Christian Andersen wrote the fairytale.

In 1909 as the founder of Carlsberg, Carl Jacobsen, batetten The Little Mermaid by

Hans Beck. He was so fascinated by the story that he ordered the construction of a

statue to its glory.

Sculptor Edward Eriksen was tasked to create the statue as a little mermaid that

sits on a granite stone at Langeliniekajen and looks longingly after her prince.

Opera

Copenhagen Opera House is one of the world's most advanced modern opera

houses.

Several hundred square 24 carat gold leaf ceiling and holding yards of maple

adorn the walls and balconies.

The house was designed by one of Denmark's most acclaimed architects,

Henning Larsen, and udsmukket of works by some of the best artists. The opera opened in January 2005 and is definitely worth a visit.

Up from the Opera House you can look beyond the Copenhagen harbor and

see the straight line connecting the Copenhagen Opera House with Amalienborg

and the Marble Church on the other side of the water.

Amalienborg

Amalienborg Castle, the royal couple's winter residence, is probably the most

outstanding example of Rococo architecture in Denmark.

The four palaces of Amalienborg was originally built for four noblemen in the 1700s.

In 1794 burned the royal residence, Christiansborg, however, and the royal family

moved to Amalienborg. This castle has since been their home.

Rundetaarn

Rundetaarn snails time is 209 meters long and winding 7 ½ times around the

tower's hollow core. Up from the viewing platform is 34.8 meters down to the street.

Round Tower was built by Christian 4 in 1642. The king's last great building,

and he actively participated in construction work. The foundation stone was laid in 1637, and the tower reached its full height in 1642. Round Tower was the first part of? Trinity complex? Which brought together three major facilities for 1,600-century scholars: Astronomical Observatory (the oldest functioning observatory), student church and university.

Canal Tours

A trip through Copenhagen's old channel is one of the most popular tourist

activities and an experience that should not be cheating themselves. By boat

sail through the old city and pass many of the most famous sights.
